"Sky" < #write31days >

This month, I'm joining  Write 31
writing off of a one word prompt for
five minutes per day, much like  #fmf .
I'm thrilled to take part and hope my writing
improves and deepens, given
a "forced" appointment with my blogger draft daily!
                                                                    So here goes, in five:

The night sky, the same sky......the present,  the past.
Navy fades into darker hues into
glistening diamond clusters then thrown onto black velvety canopy.

our "blood moon" beginning, September 2015

Those stars, the same stars,........ overhead.
Whether in our own backyard or against the familiar setting of our lake.
Cassiopeia, Seven Sisters, Polaris, Orion........
always there, always findable, always the backdrop
of our summer nights by campfire
while lake rhythmically laps a few feet away...
hushed voices asking who's spied Pleiades
twirling those August-evening sparklers dancing in childhood's hands,
pungent smoky aroma in sweatshirts and hair,
sunburned shoulders hidden under layers of evening wear
where marshmallow sticks bend over fire,
where strangers become friends and
where kids talk about the day's dock jumping
and what grade they'll enter in September
and who wants another s'more.

our Arizona campfire ~ summer 2015

The familiarity, the safety, the memories
across so many years
in so many places... so many different faces....
but always constant, always beautiful.
