Turning the Page on a New Year? Hope, Moving On.......

Yup, another LOST reference.
Sorry.....just can't help myself.

If ever there  was  a meme to sum up our year, this would be  it.
By the way,  if you haven't seen Lost,

WHAT in heaven's name are you waiting for?

And I thought 2015  was a real winner around here. I somehow  thought....hoped....... this time last year, that turning the page from December to January  would somehow make all things new.  Magical.  I had hope in the influence  of the calendar, of some purposeful change that December 31 becoming January 1 would bring.  Hope..... or maybe  just  a faint glimmer of optimism at the end of a really b-a-d year.

Then 2016 hit and we really found out what bad is.
As this year comes to a close, it's rare for  a day  to pass when someone doesn’t comment on how awful 2016 has been. But  turning the page?  While it brings a fresh start and a clean slate..........well,  it doesn’t really work that  way, does it?

Optimism is a good thing. But of course, we need the hope of God.
With this, we know  life will  sometimes  get very, very hard.  And sometimes  our hearts will be burdened with heaviness we cannot even fathom, but He comes. He comes humbly into the horror  of it all so that we don’t have to walk the hard journeys alone.

He knows.

He is the compassionate Savior who whispers peace and comfort into our troubled, tumultuous days. We can turn the calendar page not with optimism, but with genuine hope in the God who saves.  SO this year,  any year........we are not alone. Never alone......are we?

You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High

who abide in the shade of the Almighty,
Say to the Lord, “My refuge and fortress,
my God in whom I trust.”

So, my friends, Happy New Year  2017!  Here's to handling the burdens with grace, and there will be burdens, won't there?  And being grateful for the many blessings!
