Welcome to day 26 of my
"31 Days of Adirondack Memories" series
for the #write31days challenge!
Not an exact time or day marking
childhood as no more
Birthdays swiftly pass...the candled cakes and singing
and presents blend now one year to the next
.......calendar pages turn
Not simply the propelling of time,
minutes ticking into decades....it's more......
the vanishing of innocence
The complex and confusing and harsh world
tenders paths that once burst with smiles, sunshine and rainbows......
and all carefree....
...chilly morning lake swims,
busy boating afternoons,
happy marshmallow roasting evenings.......
Now, life's paths, we find, can be rife with turmoil and tragedy
Suddenly so much has changed
.... and the bravery and strength they didn't know
was within them ......
well those are vital... almost tangible.
When their souls feel heavy
when we look back......
we know for certain
that love and family and memories
created in these sacred places
among these pines and shores
are all that matter
...are what equip us with determination
and fortitude to move beyond.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Be not afraid
