"Only" ~ Those Halloweens of the Past < #write31days >

 HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

As you know, this month, I'm joining  Write 31,
writing off  a one word prompt daily.
THIS is the very last day of the challenge and wow......
what a month.
Admittedly, I did miss one or two days a few weeks back.....
buuuuuut,  here it is,  the end of the month.
So, THANK YOU for sticking with me all the way through!

For today's prompt, "only,"
I'm departing from my poety-ish free writes to
reach back and grab some Halloween memories from years ago,
sharing a photo < or four >  of those days
when our only, our  singular purpose,
was to live in the moment enjoy the excitement.
The fleeting years of dress up and cupcake decorating
and warm cider during trick or treat breaks.
To grab  the feeling, to remember their giddy anticipation
while donning the costume accessories, the face paint,
grabbing the pumpkin buckets and heading  out  to ring those
door bells all over town.

"Date" ~ A Novena, an Election < #write31days >

As you know, this month, I'm joining  Write 31
writing off  a one word prompt daily.
For today's prompt, "date," I thought I'd  depart
from my  poetry-ish free-writes and
share with you instead, a novena.
We, here in the US, are leading up to the presidential election
  in just  nine days
and so beginning t-o-d-a-y, I'm inviting all my readers and friends,
whatever your religion or political leanings to join in
prayer for the future of our great nation.
The Savior has our back,  whatever the outcome.

This novena is positively my favorite because I get
practical and consistent email reminders as one is about to begin
and then daily during the nine day stretch.
How great is that?
You can sign up too at Pray More Novenas. com.

Here's the Election Novena that begins today,
Sunday October 30, just nine days before The Big Day.

prayer for a specific intention or grace?

"Eat" <#write31days > Five MInute Friday

This month, I'm joining  Write 31
writing off  a one word prompt for
five minutes per day.
I'm thrilled to take part and hope my writing
improves and deepens, given
a "forced" appointment with my blogger draft daily!
And I'm happy to link to Kate's weekly FMF party!

                                                                    So here goes, in five:

Eat
Love these words spoken by Julia Child,  once upon a time......
"People who love to eat are always the best people."
But one step further....I  revel in not just those people
who love to eat.........but the ones who love to
linger, wallow, immerse, frequent, gather,
spend vast amounts of time......
and not just for the food.
And the crowd, be it two or twenty two,
as they set about the table
in that kitchen, the soul of the house
Hearts assemble and share, catch up, become accepted....
while chopping, stirring, mixing, sipping, stirring, creating.
Because it's not just about the food...these times when we draw near,
for celebration or for the everyday, is it?
It's about the power of the gathering......
Doesn't it inspire us  to be more?
More joyful,  more  reflective, more happy?
More alive?
Old or young, host or guest, newcomer or 'regular,'
all gathered, expectantly, for sustenance of body and soul.....
we restore one another.....
we  are each other's refreshment, indulgence, tonic.
